Overview 


The PTS course is comprised of two components.  There is an e-learning training package followed by a practical training day.  Successful completion of the e-learning assessment is required prior to attendance on this practical training day.


The aim of this practical course is to instruct delegates on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when working on or near the line.


Candidates must have successfully completed the PTS E-learning Assessment prior to attendance of the PTS Practical and must bring the completed certificate to the course.

Pre-Requisite Requirements


It is the Sponsors responsibility to ensure candidates booked onto the course are eligible for the training they are to receive and in line with any relevant medical level or restriction that may apply, in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/00124.


Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements.


Please be aware that candidates will be treated on a training event as if they are at work and they must comply with the relevant medical policy and bring their Sentinel Smartcard which will be swiped at the start of the course.


Must bring Sentinel smart card endorsed with PTS (not in learning support).


Please be advised that the competency can only be recertified if it is valid or within the 8 week grace period.


Minimum of 4 Entries on the PTS Logbook endorsed by the COSS & 2 management reviews.  Work Experience Logbooks not meeting these requirements will result in candidates not being eligible to continue with the course.


Must be a minimum age of 18.


It is adviseable to bring your Track Safety Handbook (you will have been provided with this on your PTS Initial course).

Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements to minimum medical level 4 and NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol).


Must have sufficient command of English language as detailed in Network Rail Company Specification NR/S/CTM/021 (Competence & Training in Track Safety).


Please advise of any special needs i.e. Dyslexia.


Please be aware if a DCCR competency is held, this can only be recertified in conjunction with a PTS AC recertification.  If attending a PTS AC only event, the candidate will need to attend the DCCR Initial training afterwards.


Failure to meet the criteria for successful completion of the course will result in the candidates PTS/AC competency being taken down, requiring the candidate to attend PTS Initial training again, which may include completing the E-learning module if this has not been attended previously.

Certification


Upon successful completion of this course, competencies will be uploaded to Sentinel. Sentinel smart cards are ordered directly from Sentinel at www.railsentinel.co.uk
